Academic scholarships are awarded from two pools of funds:
The Springfield Council of Jewish Women Scholarship (SCJW) Funds and the JEF Common Fund. The SCJW awards began with the National Council of Jewish Women, Springfield Chapter in 1943. In 1992 the funds were transferred to the Jewish Endowment Foundation. SCJW Scholarship Awards are available to all qualified students regardless of race, religion and gender. Applicants must be residents of Springfield, East Longmeadow, Longmeadow, Wilbraham, Hampden, Agawam or West Springfield. Scholarship recipients are chosen based on a combination of academic performance, financial need, and community involvement. A history of the individual funds making up the SCJW Scholarship pool is available by clicking here.
The JEF Common Fund Scholarships are available to Jewish students living in the Pioneer Valley of Western Massachusetts. Applicants for JEF Common Fund awards must complete the additional information section of the application. Descriptions of all JEF Common Fund scholarships and specific eligibility requirements are included in the application.
